Overview

Lyngdorf’s MH-2 is a compact two-way monitor engineered around one idea: mount the tweeter and mid driver so close together that the speaker radiates like a point source. This matte black version with black Gabriel® fabric cover is the discreet workhorse of the range — add a BW subwoofer and you have a genuinely full-range system that barely registers visually.

Design & build

Matte black cabinet, black fabric cover — woven by Gabriel of Denmark, in the textile trade since 1851 — and a form factor that tucks onto shelving or joinery without comment. For freestanding use, the dedicated MH floor stand places it at proper listening height with cables run inside the column.

Sound & performance

The MH-2 covers 100Hz to 20,000Hz (-3dB) at 87dB sensitivity (2.83V/1m), 4 ohms nominal, with 100 watts power handling. It is designed as the satellite half of a sub/sat pairing — hand the bass to a BW-2 or BW-3 and the MH-2 concentrates on the imaging and articulation small monitors do best.

Key features

The 1-inch textile soft-dome tweeter carries PTC protection against overload; the 5.25-inch midrange uses an aluminium cone, 35mm voice coil and vented magnet; the crossover sits at 2.2kHz. Driver spacing is minimised by design — that is the MH-2’s party trick.

Technology

A near-point-source radiator images with a precision spread-out driver arrays cannot match. Run the system from a RoomPerfect™-equipped Lyngdorf amplifier and the calibration ties satellites, subwoofer and room into one coherent, corrected whole.
