How disruptive is a cinema or smart-home installation in an occupied house?

Less than people expect. We plan cabling routes and works carefully and stage them to keep disruption down; in a finished home we can retrofit a great deal with minimal mess. The earlier we are involved, the cleaner the result.

Can you convert a basement or loft into a cinema room?

Yes — Cardiff’s Victorian villa stock is ideal for it. We assess the space for acoustics, access and services, then design a room around it rather than forcing a kit list into an awkward space.

Which brands do you recommend for control and lighting?

We most often specify Lutron, Rako or URC for control and lighting — chosen for reliability and longevity. The right choice depends on your home and how you live in it.

Home Cinema, Smart Home & Hi-Fi Installation in Cardiff

Hidden Home Technology designs and installs international award-winning home cinemas, smart home systems and hi-fi for houses across Cardiff. The large detached homes of Lisvane and Cyncoed and the established streets of Radyr and Morganstown have room for a dedicated cinema. In the Victorian villas of Pontcanna, Pen-y-lan and Roath Park it is often a basement or a loft that becomes one. Wherever the house is, we design the room and the technology together and fit them so neatly that they disappear into the architecture.

We work from Bath and run full project visits across Cardiff — around an hour and twenty minutes door to door, close enough that we are properly hands-on. One team designs your system, installs it and stays accountable from first drawing to final handover.

What we do

Home cinema design and installation. A Cardiff cinema project might be a purpose-built room in a Lisvane detached or a basement conversion in Pontcanna — and the approach is the same: design the room first, then fit the technology to it. We handle the acoustics of the room shell, projection or large-format screen, speakers, seating, and one-touch control, so the result looks and sounds like it was always meant to be there.

Our attic cinema in Wales shows the approach. An unused attic storage room became a dedicated cinema, with acoustic treatment designed to work down to 40Hz and a 3 metre acoustically transparent screen. Smart home and multi-room audio-video. One backbone tying audio, video, lighting, heating and security together, controlled simply from a keypad or phone. We design around control systems we trust for the long term — Lutron, Rako and URC among them — so the house still works beautifully years after we have left.

Hi-fi. Cardiff has real music enthusiasts, and we are a genuine hi-fi specialist, not a box-shifter. We match a system to your room and your ears, whether that is one exquisite source-and-speaker pairing in a Pontcanna villa or a whole-house listening setup.

Lighting design and control. A good lighting-control system — typically Lutron or Rako — turns a house full of switches into a few considered scenes and makes a room feel finished. It reveals the architecture of these Cardiff homes rather than flattening it.
