Il Cremonese is a 3.5-way reference floorstanding loudspeaker from Sonus Faber, named after Antonio Stradivari’s celebrated 1715 violin. Design & build

The cabinet follows Sonus Faber’s double-curvature lute shape, with fine non-parallel walls and Avional surface treatments — an alloy used in the aircraft and aerospace industries. The recognisable “Rhomboidal Diamond Design” strengthens the wooden cabinet while creating clean, elegant lines. It is offered in high-gloss wood with black leather and aluminium, and stands 1449mm tall at 84kg per unit, hand-built in Italy.

The DAD (Damped Apex Dome) Arrow Point tweeter combines the timbre of a classic dome with the control of a ring tweeter, damping resonance at the apex of the soft dome.

Technology

Avional “Damper Shelves” within the cabinet collect vibration to keep the musical signal clean, while the non-parallel walls and rhomboidal structure suppress standing waves and add rigidity. Sonus Faber’s own infra-woofer, with a long-stroke voice coil and a high-output magnetic motor, extends the low frequencies with control, integrated by the marque’s Phase Coherent filter design.
