Overview

The SDA-2400 is Lyngdorf’s stereo power amplifier — a compact, quietly capable engine for high-end two-channel systems and multichannel cinemas alike. This version comes ready for installation, supplied with its trigger cable and rack-mounting hardware.

Design & build

Lyngdorf builds the SDA-2400 for working installations: a slim chassis designed to rack cleanly, run cool and stay out of the way. There is no unnecessary furniture here — the money is in the output stage.

Sound & performance

Power delivery is 2 × 200 watts into 8 ohms, doubling to 2 × 400 watts into 4 ohms — the hallmark of a genuinely stiff power supply that keeps its grip as loudspeaker impedance falls. Distortion is very low and, importantly, linear in character, with a signal-to-noise ratio to match; the amplifier simply does not editorialise.

Key features

Connectivity covers both analogue and digital sources directly: single-ended RCA and balanced XLR analogue inputs sit alongside coaxial (up to 192kHz/24-bit) and optical (up to 96kHz/24-bit) digital inputs. Trigger connection and automatic signal-sensing mean it powers up when the system does and drops to standby when not in use.

Technology

The output stage uses pulse width modulation with Lyngdorf’s patented switch-speed optimisation, running at a fixed 390kHz switching frequency with minimal feedback control. It is the same design philosophy that runs through Lyngdorf’s digital amplification: efficiency without the usual class-D compromises, and control without heavy-handed correction.
