Description
Description
Coltrane Quintet is the long awaited update to the original Coltrane model, but it’s more than an upgrade. It captures everything we currently know about speaker design. Behind the classic good looks of Coltrane lies something powerful.
With an enviable complement of drivers, it features our custom pure diamond and custom pure beryllium drivers, as well as a new custom convex carbon fibre mid-bass and new aluminium sandwich 10” drivers. The cabinet is 25% bigger offering better response in the low bass frequencies. It’s also more rigid, designed for greater resonance control.
The front plate has been designed for stability: thicker and with more contact points for lower resonance. The polished carbon fibre cabinet reveals the beauty and strength of the material that is intrinsic to Coltrane design.
• 4-way bass reflex
• Custom pure diamond tweeter
• Custom pure beryllium high-midrange
• Custom convex carbon fibre mid-bass
• Aluminium sandwich bass
• Signature First Order crossover
• Jorma internal wiring
• Marten Isolators
The Hidden Home view: Marten Coltrane Quintet
The Coltrane Quintet is the four-way floorstander of Marten’s Coltrane series, the range Marten calls a benchmark for its sound. Marten describes it as the long-awaited update to the original Coltrane. A pure diamond tweeter and a pure beryllium upper midrange sit above a carbon fibre mid-bass driver and two 10-inch aluminium sandwich woofers, and the cabinet is a quarter larger than the Coltrane 3’s to reach deeper.
The carbon fibre cabinet is lacquered in Piano Black, and the Quintet can later be upgraded to Marten’s Statement Edition. Marten says it needs considered placement and set-up.
So it suits a large room given over to listening and amplification of the same calibre. We plan the room and the electronics with you and set the speakers up ourselves.
