The Grimm Audio LS1a brings speakers, amplification and signal processing together as a coordinated system. It suits listeners who want fewer separate components while retaining careful control of the loudspeaker’s acoustic behaviour.
Amplification, conversion and digital signal processing are built in, so you do not need a separate speaker power amplifier. Feed a suitable analogue or digital line source to the system, and plan its volume/source controller. Do not connect the speaker-level output of a conventional amplifier to a line or digital input.
The LS1a uses a non-magnesium woofer, a lighter footplate and a lacquered cabinet to reduce cost relative to the standard LS1. It retains DSP-based response shaping and built-in amplification, but does not include the same individual acoustic cabinet calibration process as the higher specification model.
The Grimm MU1 is a natural digital source and control partner for the LS1 family. A separate Tambaqui DAC is not required for this direct digital route. Controller/interface requirements depend on your source and system configuration. LS1s stereo subwoofers and the SB1 motional-feedback subwoofer provide alternative bass-extension routes; confirm the compatible configuration and quantity.
