Description
Description
The McIntosh MT5 Precision Turntable is a refined analogue source designed to extract exceptional musical detail from vinyl while remaining effortless to own and operate. Supplied as a fully optimised package, the MT5 combines advanced mechanical engineering, a precision tonearm and a high-performance cartridge to deliver a stable, quiet and highly engaging listening experience.
At the centre of the design is a high-mass precision platter and belt-driven motor assembly, engineered for rotational stability and extremely low noise. Advanced magnetic platter bearings reduce mechanical friction, allowing records to spin with exceptional smoothness and consistency. This stability is fundamental to the MT5’s ability to reproduce dynamic swings, low-level detail and natural timing with confidence.
The MT5 is fitted with a custom McIntosh tonearm, designed for minimal friction and precise tracking. Horizontal tonearm bearings and magnetic anti-skate ensure the stylus remains accurately centred within the groove, even during complex musical passages. All critical parameters, including tracking force, anti-skate, cartridge overhang and arm height, are factory set to ensure optimal performance straight out of the box.
Supplied as standard is the Sumiko Amethyst high-output moving magnet cartridge, a next-generation design that delivers remarkable resolution and refinement. Featuring a nude line-contact diamond stylus, the Amethyst traces groove modulations with exceptional accuracy, accessing musical information often associated with high-end moving coil designs. The result is a presentation defined by clarity, depth and effortless dynamics, set against an impressively quiet background.
Resonance control is a core focus of the MT5. Carefully selected chassis materials are used to suppress unwanted vibration and coloration, ensuring that only the information contained within the record groove is reproduced. A clear, form-fitting dust cover is included to protect both the turntable’s precision components and your record collection.
The MT5 integrates seamlessly with McIntosh stereo preamplifiers and phono stages, making it an ideal analogue source for high-quality two-channel systems. Its balance of performance, reliability and ease of setup makes it equally suitable for experienced vinyl listeners and those seeking a no-compromise entry into serious analogue playback.
At Hidden Home Technology, we specify and install the McIntosh MT5 for clients who want consistent, reference-grade vinyl performance without ongoing adjustment. Correct system matching and installation ensure the MT5 performs at its full potential within a dedicated listening environment.
