Kaleidescape has added Walt Disney Studios to its movie store for the United Kingdom. The news came on 30 October and the first films can already be bought or rented. It brings in Disney’s own titles and the studios that sit under it: Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Searchlight Pictures and 20th Century Studios.

What is available now?
Kaleidescape is releasing the catalogue in stages. The Star Wars collection went live first and is in the UK store today. More Disney titles will follow over the coming weeks, and Kaleidescape is gathering them into a Disney collection in the store as they arrive.
Higher bitrates for every 4K film
Kaleidescape’s October newsletter carried a quieter change that matters just as much on a large screen. Since September its standard 4K films have been encoded at an average of 80 Mbps and its 4K Cinematic titles at an average of 120 Mbps. New releases go live at the higher rates and the existing catalogue is being updated on a rolling basis. Owners can see which of their films are ready to refresh in the Movie Updates tab, under Manage in their movie store account.
An award for Strato K
Strato K has also been recognised well beyond the custom install world. The Digital Entertainment Group, whose members include the major film studios and streaming platforms, gave it the 2026 EnTech Award for Technology Leadership. Strato K is the Kaleidescape player that plays 4K Cinematic, and we looked at it in detail when it launched.
The Hidden Home view
“The Kaleidescape Disney thing is amazing,” says our director, Dan Crick. “It’s the missing piece in the puzzle for the Kaleidescape store for sure.”
A movie server earns its place in a cinema room through the films a family actually reaches for, and in the UK the Disney studios have been missing from Kaleidescape until now. Pixar for the children, Marvel and Star Wars for everyone else. With those arriving and every 4K film moving to a higher bitrate, a Kaleidescape system in this country now covers far more of what our clients ask to watch. If your library is outgrowing a single player, our note on the 246 TB movie server explains how we plan the storage.
