Native 8K Playback

The Strato K is the first home movie player to output at true native 8K resolution (7,680 × 4,320 pixels — four times the pixel count of 4K). Content is sourced from studio-grade 8K mezzanine files, not upscaled from 4K.

Exclusive 4K Cinematic™ Format

4K Cinematic is Kaleidescape’s proprietary format available exclusively on the Strato K. Films are re-encoded with full per-pixel colour information (up to 4:4:4 chroma) at average bitrates of 110 Mbps — approximately three times the peak bitrate of 4K Blu-ray. The result is visibly richer colour, cleaner edges, and more natural film grain on large screens and projection systems.

No 8K screen yet? The Strato K still delivers measurable improvements over a standard 4K source. It downscales 8K films to 4K output at full 4:4:4 colour — far more colour data per pixel than any streaming service or Blu-ray provides. The Strato K’s 8K processing capability is what enables 4K Cinematic to reach its full fidelity on any display.

Dolby Vision and Lossless Audio

Full Dolby Vision dynamic HDR. Decodes lossless audio including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Secondary audio output via stereo S/PDIF, coaxial, and optical connections for integration with existing room audio systems.

960GB Internal SSD Storage

Holds approximately seven 4K Cinematic titles, ready to play without a server. A standard 4K title downloads in around ten minutes on a gigabit connection. The Strato K runs fully standalone or pairs with Terra servers for larger installations.

Terra Server Compatible

Groups with Kaleidescape Terra and Terra Prime servers for multi-room systems and extensive libraries. A Terra Prime 120TB server stores up to 1,125 8K and 4K Cinematic titles with support for ten simultaneous playback zones.

Build and Connectivity

CNC-machined black aluminium case, 7.9 × 1.5 × 10 inches (1U rack-mountable with optional accessory kit). Ethernet only — no Wi-Fi. Control via the Kaleidescape app on iOS or Android, or the optional wired remote.

Home Automation Integration

Two-way driver support for leading control systems. Co-Star HDMI upgrade available for grouped multi-room installations.
