Why we install Bowers & Wilkins 706 S3
The 706 S3 is a very useful loudspeaker when a room deserves a serious front left and right channel, but floorstanders would dominate the space or fight the furniture plan. In a typical Bath sitting room, snug or media room, we would use it on proper stands as a high-quality stereo pair, or as the main speakers in a compact cinema system where the front three channels are carefully matched within the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series. It partners well with a capable integrated amplifier or AV receiver, a good network source, and a properly set subwoofer when the system needs cinema weight without asking the stand-mount speakers to do everything. Setup matters: stand height, distance from the rear wall, toe-in and the listening position all affect tonal balance and imaging, so we allow time for placement before final calibration. In an AV room we would set crossover points by measurement, not guesswork, and make sure any room correction supports the speaker rather than flattening its character. Compared with the smaller 700 Series stand-mount options, the 706 S3 is the one we look at when the room needs more scale; compared with the 704 S3 floorstander, it is the neater choice where space, cabinetry or sightlines are tighter. Visit the Hidden Home Technology showroom in Bath to hear where it sits in a properly matched system.

Life-sized acoustics
The powerful 706 S3 is the ideal stand-mount loudspeaker for delivering exceptional sound in larger spaces.
Sharper detail
Carbon Dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
Truly amazing sound
Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum™ cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behaviour that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.
Inspired by greatness
The new curved cabinet baffle and individual drive unit pods are inspired by the 800 Series Diamond, and greatly reduce cabinet coloration, ensuring a cleaner, more immersive sound.
