Description
Why we install Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3 Floor Standing Loudspeakers
The 704 S3 is often the 700 Series floorstander we reach for when a room needs proper left and right channels without letting the speakers dominate the space. In a typical Bath cinema room, media room or music-first sitting room, it gives us the scale and focus of a floor-standing design while remaining easier to place than larger models. We will usually pair it with a matching 700 Series centre speaker for the front three channels, discreet surround or height speakers where the room allows, and a carefully integrated subwoofer so the 704 S3 can concentrate on clarity and stereo image rather than being asked to do everything. Setup matters: distance from rear and side walls, toe-in, listening height and symmetry all have a clear effect, and we calibrate the finished system so dialogue, bass handover and two-channel listening all feel coherent. Compared with stepping up to the larger 703 S3 or 702 S3, the 704 S3 is the more room-friendly choice; choose it where proportions, furniture layout or visual balance are as important as outright scale. If you are weighing up the 700 Series options, visit the Hidden Home Technology showroom in Bath and we can demonstrate how the 704 S3 behaves in a properly set-up system.
Slim design, big sound
This elegant floor-standing loudspeaker is slimmer and easier to accommodate than ever. Perfect for superlative sound in smaller spaces.
A house for high frequencies
Carbon Dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
Truly amazing sound
Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum™ cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behaviour that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.
Clean and clear
Every three-way loudspeaker in the new 700 Series has a dedicated midrange cone using four key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum cone, FST™, Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling, the latter ensuring minimal interference from the operation of the loudspeaker’s bass drivers.
A triumph of science
Developed using advanced computer modelling techniques, the Aerofoil™ Profile bass cone has variable thickness, providing stiffness and rigidity where it’s needed most. The result: deep and dynamic bass.
