Description
Why we install Bowers & Wilkins 707 S3
The 707 S3 is often the right Bowers & Wilkins choice when the room, cabinetry or listening position calls for a compact loudspeaker without turning the system into background audio. In a typical Hidden Home Technology design, we might use it as a serious stereo pair in a study, snug or kitchen living space, or as rear and side channels in a 700 Series cinema where the front three are matched with larger models and a dedicated centre speaker. It also works well where speakers need to sit on proper stands rather than dominate the room visually.
We usually pair the 707 S3 with electronics that have good grip and low noise, because small loudspeakers reveal poor setup more readily than many expect. Stand height, toe-in and distance from the rear wall all matter: too close and the bass can thicken; too far out and the presentation may lose weight. In cinema systems, we take care over crossover points and subwoofer integration so the speaker is not asked to do work better handled by a dedicated bass system.
Compared with the 706 S3, the 707 S3 is the more discreet option and suits near-field listening or smaller rooms; choose the 706 S3 when you want a little more scale and the space allows it. Visit our Bath showroom to hear how the 707 S3 behaves in a properly set-up system, not just on a specification sheet.
Pure and simple
The 707 S3 is the ideal book-shelf loudspeaker. It’s slimmer than ever, but it’s capable of performance levels above and beyond what its diminutive size may suggest.
Sharper detail
Carbon Dome tweeters are purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium double dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
Truly amazing sound
Thanks to its composite construction, the Continuum™ cone avoids the abrupt transitions in behaviour that can impair the performance of a conventional drive unit. The result is a more open, neutral performance that delivers voices and instruments with precision and transparency.
Inspired by greatness
The new curved cabinet baffle and individual drive unit pods are inspired by the 800 Series Diamond, and greatly reduce cabinet coloration, ensuring a cleaner, more immersive sound.
