Overview

The Nazaré is the reference music server and streamer from Innuos — the source we specify when the front end is no longer an accessory but a central part of the system. It brings together local library playback and streaming in one clean, library-led hub, engineered so the server itself contributes as little noise and timing error as possible before the signal reaches the DAC.

Design & build

Nazaré is housed in a newly engineered aluminium enclosure with a SmartStack vibration-damping system developed with TONEO, an asymmetric fascia and cover to break up internal standing waves, and system-tuned feet developed with IsoAcoustics. It is a substantial component — roughly 480mm wide, 420mm deep and 220mm high, and around 42kg — reflecting the scale of its power supply and internal isolation.

Sound & performance

The design philosophy is quietness and precision: a cleaner, more deliberate source that lets revealing loudspeakers and electronics show what they can do. Rather than treating USB as the default output in every system, Nazaré offers both a dedicated PreciseUSB output and a PreciseNET network output, so the route to the DAC can be matched to the system rather than assumed. It makes most sense where the room, loudspeakers and electronics are already capable of showing the difference a better source makes.

Key features

Processing is handled by a deeply tuned, custom PreciseAudio mainboard with a ten-core CPU, alongside independently powered PreciseUSB and PreciseNET boards connected directly to the processor. Internal storage runs up to sixteen terabytes of SSD (offered pre-installed as 8TB, or 16TB as two 8TB drives), with a storage expansion bay for two M.2 NVMe drives. Control is via the Innuos Sense app, with optional Roon, HQPlayer and UPnP support.

Technology

The power supply, developed with Dr. Sean Jacobs, uses GaN-based active rectification, very large capacitance, precision multifilar toroidal transformers and custom Lundahl inductors for an exceptionally low noise floor. Timing is governed by an ultra-high-precision OCXO clock acting as a single master clock for all digital communication. Streaming covers Qobuz, TIDAL, Deezer, HighResAudio, IDAGIO and Spotify Connect, with support for PCM to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD.

Who it’s for

Nazaré suits a dedicated two-channel room, or a cinema whose front end is also expected to deliver serious music playback, where the loudspeakers, room treatment and electronics are already good enough to reward a quieter, more deliberate source. It is not the first upgrade for every system, but in the right context it is a very strong foundation.
