Why we install Innuos SPDIF Board – Stream Optional Module
The Innuos SPDIF Board is a neat choice when an Innuos source needs to feed an external DAC, integrated amplifier or processor that performs best from a conventional S/PDIF digital input. In a typical Hidden Home Technology install, that might be a dedicated two-channel listening room, a media room where the music system shares space with cinema electronics, or a discreet rack-based system serving a principal living area. It lets us keep the Innuos unit in the right place for network, power and ventilation, while giving the downstream audio electronics the digital connection they are happiest with.
We tend to specify it where the rest of the system justifies careful source matching: a capable DAC, well-sorted amplification and speakers positioned with proper attention to the room. Setup is not just a case of plugging in a cable. We check software output settings, confirm the DAC’s accepted formats, keep digital cable runs sensible, and compare S/PDIF against USB or network playback where the partnering equipment allows it. That comparison matters: USB may be the better route with some DACs, while S/PDIF can be the cleaner, simpler handover in systems designed around that input.
Choose the SPDIF Board when you want your Innuos server or streamer to sit at the heart of a refined digital front end without forcing a change of DAC or amplifier. Visit our Bath showroom and we can demonstrate how the connection choice affects the complete system, not just the source component.
