Why we install Innuos Standard DAC Board – Stream Output Module
The Innuos Standard DAC Board is a neat choice where an Innuos server or streamer is being used as the main music source and the system needs a clean, simple analogue output without adding another box to the rack. In a typical Hidden Home Technology install, that might be a dedicated listening room, a discreet living-room hi-fi, or a secondary music zone where ease of use matters as much as sound quality. It is particularly useful when pairing an Innuos unit with an integrated amplifier, pre-amplifier or music system that has strong analogue inputs but no preferred external DAC in the design.
We tend to specify this module when the brief favours a tidy signal path and straightforward control, rather than a separates-heavy approach. Setup is not just a matter of fitting the board: we check firmware, output routing, source naming, network stability and cable dressing, then listen for gain structure and noise-floor issues in the context of the whole system. Where a more ambitious two-channel system is planned, we may still recommend a separate DAC instead; the Standard DAC Board makes most sense when elegance, space and system simplicity are the priorities.
