Overview

The all-black FR-2 is the classic of the range — Lyngdorf’s full-range wall-placement loudspeaker in its most traditional hi-fi dress. Designed to stand flat against the wall, its shallow cabinet takes up almost no room while producing genuinely full-range sound — the practical answer for high-quality music and cinema in real living spaces.

Design & build

Black cabinet, black front and top baffles: discreet in a dark media room, authoritative in a light one, and always unmistakably purposeful. Interchangeable front and top baffles let the speaker’s accent colour be changed later — replacement baffle sets and Gabriel® fabric covers are listed separately, as is a dedicated wall-mount kit for taking it off the floor entirely.

Sound & performance

The FR-2 plays from 45Hz to 20,000Hz (-3dB) with high 92dB sensitivity (2.83V/1m) into a nominal 4-ohm load (3.7 ohms minimum), and will reach 117dB peak sound pressure — easy to drive, hard to fluster. Power handling is rated at 250 watts (IEC).

Key features

A 28mm fabric soft-dome tweeter crosses over at 2.2kHz to two 180mm (6.5-inch) mid-woofers with aluminium cones, 35mm voice coils, vented magnets and vented die-cast aluminium baskets — driver engineering shared with Lyngdorf’s wider loudspeaker range.

Technology

Most speakers suffer when pushed against a wall; the FR-2 is engineered for exactly that position, using the boundary rather than fighting it. Partnered with a RoomPerfect™-equipped Lyngdorf amplifier, the speaker and room are corrected as one system — the pairing the FR-2 was conceived for.
