Overview

The Oscar Duo is the stand-mount model in Marten’s Oscar series, bringing the Swedish maker’s ceramic-driver philosophy into a compact two-way design. It is intended for the listener who wants Marten’s clean, natural presentation and hard-membrane detail in a smaller room, or as part of a carefully considered nearfield system.

Design & build

The Oscar Duo uses a 25mm fibreboard cabinet, offered in Matte Walnut, Piano Black or Piano White. Inside, the crossover is built with quality components — copper-foil air-core coils, silver/gold capacitors and high-grade resistors — wired with Jorma internal cabling and terminated in single-wiring WBT Nextgen binding posts. A matching dedicated stand is available.

Sound & performance

As a two-way design the Oscar Duo divides the range between a ceramic tweeter and a ceramic mid-bass driver, giving a coherent, uncoloured sound with the low distortion characteristic of hard membranes. Quoted frequency range is 37Hz–20kHz (±3dB), with 86dB sensitivity and a 6-ohm nominal impedance (3.1 ohms minimum), for surprising bass reach and detail from a compact cabinet.

Marten’s ceramic domes are light yet extremely rigid, with a high internal damping factor achieved through a refined electrochemical process and a high material resonance frequency — keeping distortion low. The Oscar Duo pairs these custom drivers with premium crossover parts and low-loss wiring so the drivers’ inherent clarity reaches the terminals intact.
