Overview

The Serafino G2 is the second-generation model in Sonus Faber‘s Homage Collection, a 3.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker hand-built in Italy. It brings the brand’s flagship-derived driver technology into a more compact cabinet than the larger Homage models, aimed at the listener who wants genuine scale and the natural, musical voicing for which Sonus Faber is known.

Design & build

The cabinet follows Sonus Faber’s signature lute-shaped form, offered in high-gloss lacquered wood with black leather and aluminium detailing. The midrange sits in a sealed sub-enclosure using the company’s Intono structure, while the twin woofers load into a vented box with the Stealth Ultraflex system. The speaker is decoupled from the floor by ZVT spikes and connected through four binding posts for bi-wiring.

Sound & performance

As a 3.5-way design the Serafino G2 uses one of its 180mm drivers to reinforce the low end, giving weight and authority without clouding the midband. Quoted frequency response is 30Hz–35kHz, with sensitivity of 90dB and a 4-ohm nominal impedance. The result is a full-range, refined presentation with the scale a smaller Sonus Faber cannot match.

Key features

The driver complement comprises a 28mm DAD Arrow Point soft-dome tweeter, a 150mm neodymium midrange and two 180mm woofers. Crossover points are set at 200, 250 and 2400Hz using Sonus Faber’s Phase Coherent Level 3 network of high-end components. Recommended amplifier power is 50–300W for an undistorted signal.

Technology

The DAD (Damped Apex Dome) Arrow Point tweeter is an extended-range design that smooths and extends the high frequencies. The Intono internal structure reduces acoustic pressure across a chosen band so the midrange stays clean and free of distortion, while the Stealth Ultraflex bass loading tunes the woofer output for a controlled, extended low end. These technologies trace down from the flagship Suprema and Aida projects.
