At its core is a belt-driven turntable supporting 33⅓ and 45 rpm playback, topped by a substantial 7-pound machined aluminium platter. The platter and matching aluminium tonearm sit on a 3/8-inch glass platform, identical to the glass used in McIntosh amplifier front panels, which itself rests on a custom metal sub-plate. This layered construction provides excellent mass loading and vibration control, helping to suppress external resonance and preserve playback accuracy.
The turntable is driven by an industrial-grade AC synchronous motor with a two-speed pulley, ensuring rotational speed remains precisely locked to the AC mains frequency for stable, accurate playback. Supplied as standard is a Sumiko Olympia moving magnet cartridge, offering improved dynamics, extended frequency response and confident tracking for a wide range of record pressings.
Beyond vinyl playback, the MTI100 incorporates a complete amplification and control system. A Class D power amplifier delivers 80 watts per channel into 4 ohms or 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms, driving passive loudspeakers directly. The main preamplifier section is powered by two 12AX7 vacuum tubes, adding warmth, dimensionality and musical flow, while a dedicated, shielded phono preamplifier ensures low-noise analogue performance free from internal interference.
Modern connectivity is built in throughout. The MTI100 includes Bluetooth 4.2 with high-definition audio support, aided by an external antenna for stable signal reception. Digital coaxial and optical inputs allow connection of televisions, CD players or streamers, while an analogue auxiliary input supports additional legacy sources. A subwoofer output enables low-frequency reinforcement, extending system flexibility.
For personal listening, the MTI100 features a High Drive headphone amplifier, delivering increased output power and gain to support a wide range of headphone designs.
