The ShawlineX ARAY is an analogue interconnect from the Chord Company, here in a stereo RCA-to-RCA configuration. It sits within Chord’s Shawline range, bringing the company’s tuned ARAY conductor geometry and layered shielding to a cable designed to let source and amplifier communicate with a high degree of accuracy and low noise.
The cable is hand-built with precision in England, where Chord has designed and manufactured cables since 1985. It uses silver-plated conductors insulated with XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene), terminated with Chord’s VEE 3 ChorAlloy-plated RCA plugs. The construction reflects the Shawline range’s emphasis on refinement, with increasingly complex layers of shielding as you move up the line.
ShawlineX applies Chord’s ARAY geometry, developed to carry the signal transparently and with a high degree of accuracy. A composite shield operating across a wide bandwidth protects the signal from high-frequency noise, which helps the cable preserve fine detail and low-level information between components.
The interconnect is turntable-ready as standard, and Chord offers it with flying earth leads and tone-arm terminations for vinyl systems. Standard lengths are 0.5m and 1m, with custom lengths and terminations — including mini-jack options — available to order.
ARAY is Chord’s proprietary conductor geometry, applied wherever possible through the range to reduce the mechanical and electrical disturbances that colour a signal. Combined with the silver-plated conductors, XLPE dielectric and composite wide-bandwidth shield, it forms the basis of the ShawlineX’s transparent, low-noise character.
