The Lumina I is the most compact loudspeaker in Sonus Faber’s Lumina range — a small two-way standmount that distils the house’s craftsmanship and natural voice into a genuinely compact cabinet. Described by Sonus Faber as the most compact high-end passive loudspeaker in its category, it is aimed at smaller rooms, desktops and second systems where quality matters more than size.

Design & build

The Lumina I is a vented-box standmount with a multilayer-wood front baffle and wood-veneer cabinet, whose sides and top are hand-covered in Sonus Faber’s signature black leather — a level of finish rarely seen at this size. It is offered in Piano Black lacquer, and in Wenge or Walnut with maple inlays, each combined with the black leather wrap.

Sound & performance

As a two-way vented design the Lumina I is quoted with a frequency response of 65 Hz–24 kHz. Its combination of a high-definition DAD tweeter and a paper-cone midwoofer is voiced for the natural, musical presentation the range is known for, delivering more warmth and refinement than its compact dimensions would suggest.

Technology

The 29 mm DAD (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter uses a ferrite motor and a soft dome, and is visco-elastically decoupled from the baffle to isolate it from cabinet vibration — a detail drawn from Sonus Faber’s larger models. The paper-cone midwoofer is chosen for its natural tonal character, in keeping with the range’s voicing.
