The Evolution One TX is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker from TAD (Technical Audio Devices Laboratories), the Japanese high-end brand with roots in professional studio monitoring. It distils TAD’s coincident-driver philosophy and reference engineering into a relatively compact floorstander that works in real listening rooms rather than only the largest spaces.
The Evolution One TX is a substantial three-way vented-box design measuring 350 × 1215 × 512 mm (W × H × D) and weighing 46kg each. Bass loading uses TAD’s Bi-Directional ADS (Aero-Dynamic Slot) ports — slit-shaped and set low near the floor on both sides of the cabinet to reduce port noise and internal standing waves.
The speaker quotes a frequency response of 29Hz–60kHz, with a 4-ohm nominal impedance and 88dB sensitivity (2.83V, 1m). Crossover points are 420Hz and 2.5kHz, and maximum input power is 200W. It is supported by two 16cm woofers using TAD’s multi-layer aramid-composite cones for a stiff, well-damped diaphragm.
The coincident CST driver delivers coherent, stable imaging and a natural sound field because tweeter and midrange share the same acoustic origin. The beryllium dome is exceptionally light and rigid for low distortion at high frequencies, while the Bi-Directional ADS ports tackle the turbulence and resonances that can otherwise compromise bass in a ported design.
