The TAD Evolution One TX is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker built around TAD’s coincident beryllium CST driver and twin aramid-composite woofers — reference-grade engineering in a compact, real-world cabinet.

Description
Overview
The Evolution One TX is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker from TAD (Technical Audio Devices Laboratories), the Japanese high-end brand with roots in professional studio monitoring. It distils TAD’s coincident-driver philosophy and reference engineering into a relatively compact floorstander that works in real listening rooms rather than only the largest spaces.
Design & build
The Evolution One TX is a substantial three-way vented-box design measuring 350 × 1215 × 512 mm (W × H × D) and weighing 46kg each. Bass loading uses TAD’s Bi-Directional ADS (Aero-Dynamic Slot) ports — slit-shaped and set low near the floor on both sides of the cabinet to reduce port noise and internal standing waves.
Sound & performance
The speaker quotes a frequency response of 29Hz–60kHz, with a 4-ohm nominal impedance and 88dB sensitivity (2.83V, 1m). Crossover points are 420Hz and 2.5kHz, and maximum input power is 200W. The presentation is wide-bandwidth and precisely imaged, with scale and control beyond what the compact cabinet would suggest.
Key features
At the centre is TAD’s CST (Coherent Source Transducer): a 2.5cm beryllium-dome tweeter mounted coincidentally at the centre of the midrange cone, so the two radiate from a single point across a broad 420Hz–60kHz band. It is supported by two 16cm woofers using TAD’s multi-layer aramid-composite cones for a stiff, well-damped diaphragm.
Technology
The coincident CST driver delivers coherent, stable imaging and a natural sound field because tweeter and midrange share the same acoustic origin. The beryllium dome is exceptionally light and rigid for low distortion at high frequencies, while the Bi-Directional ADS ports tackle the turbulence and resonances that can otherwise compromise bass in a ported design.
Specifications
Type: three-way bass-reflex floorstanding loudspeaker. Drivers: CST coincident 2.5cm beryllium tweeter with midrange, plus 2 × 16cm aramid-composite woofers. Frequency response: 29Hz–60kHz. Crossover: 420Hz and 2.5kHz. Sensitivity: 88dB (2.83V, 1m). Impedance: 4 ohms. Maximum input power: 200W. Dimensions: 350 × 1215 × 512 mm. Weight: 46kg each.
Who it’s for
The Evolution One TX suits the serious two-channel listener who wants reference-grade resolution and imaging in a room where a larger flagship would be too much — and who values a compact footprint and refined finish in a living space as well as a dedicated room.
