Overview

The Olympica Nova W is the on-wall loudspeaker in Sonus Faber‘s Olympica Nova collection: a two-way, passive-radiator design supplied with a mounting bracket and optimised for placement close to a wall. It extends the collection into rooms and installations — media rooms, home cinemas and living spaces — where a conventional floorstanding or stand-mount speaker is not practical.

Design & build

The cabinet uses eight layers of curved wood to raise rigidity and reduce cabinet interference, with internal structural ribs that further control vibration and support the drivers. Non-parallel walls follow Sonus Faber’s design language and help manage internal standing waves. Bass is tuned by a rear passive radiator rather than a port, which suits near-boundary placement.

Sound & performance

As a two-way design the Olympica Nova W separates high and low frequencies between a dome tweeter and a mid-woofer, with the passive radiator extending and fine-tuning the low end. Quoted frequency response is 50Hz–35kHz, with a sensitivity of 87dB (2.83V/1m) — a genuinely musical on-wall speaker rather than a compromise fit.

Key features

A 150mm passive radiator tunes the bass and low-frequency response for use near boundaries. The mid-woofer uses a fabric-coated dust-cap for an airtight seal and clean air movement, with an optimised moving coil and extended excursion for improved bass. The supplied bracket makes for straightforward, tidy wall mounting.

The cabinet construction — multi-layer curved wood, internal ribs and non-parallel walls — is drawn from the wider Olympica Nova collection and applied to an on-wall format. The passive-radiator loading is chosen specifically so the speaker can be placed near a wall without the boundary reinforcement problems a rear port can introduce.
