The Sage Cinema Hybrid Line Source is a reference in-wall cinema loudspeaker from Wisdom Audio’s flagship Sage range. It is a hybrid line-source design created for large dedicated theatres, particularly where a very large screen leaves only the space above or below the display for a centre or left/right/centre channel.
The speaker installs in-wall (an on-wall configuration is also available) and is built as a horizontal line source. It measures 14.52 × 57.3 × 6.125 inches (H × W × D), fitting the long, low proportions needed to sit cleanly above or beneath a large display.
The Sage combines two 24-inch planar-magnetic drivers with a high-output MTM (midrange-tweeter-midrange) planar driver mounted between them, plus six long-excursion, high-output woofers. Quoted frequency response is 60Hz–20kHz (±3dB). A line source of this size projects sound evenly across a large room, giving consistent coverage from the front rows to the back.
This is a fully active, professional-grade system: it requires three channels of amplification, an outboard active crossover and DSP. Recommended amplifier power is 500W low, 500W mid and 250W high. The design is also the first Wisdom speaker to use a patent-pending HEMA (Heat Extraction Motor Assembly) for improved thermal handling under cinema demands.
Planar-magnetic thin-film drivers use a large, light membrane to move air, which Wisdom credits for exceptional detail and dynamics. Arranging them as a hybrid line source improves power delivery and coverage over a point source in a big room, while the outboard DSP and active crossover allow the system to be precisely tailored to the theatre.
