The Grimm Audio LS1v2 brings speakers, amplification and signal processing together as a coordinated system. It suits listeners who want fewer separate components while retaining careful control of the loudspeaker’s acoustic behaviour.
Amplification, conversion and digital signal processing are built in, so you do not need a separate speaker power amplifier. Feed a suitable analogue or digital line source to the system, and plan its volume/source controller. Do not connect the speaker-level output of a conventional amplifier to a line or digital input.
The LS1v2 uses an 8-inch magnesium woofer and 1-inch dome tweeter in a 14-litre sealed cabinet. Two 180W Hypex NCore Class D amplifiers per loudspeaker drive the units, with DSP and converters integrated into a support leg. Grimm specifies controlled bass response down to 35Hz.
The Grimm MU1 is a natural digital source and control partner for the LS1 family. A separate Tambaqui DAC is not required for this direct digital route. Controller/interface requirements depend on your source and system configuration. LS1s stereo subwoofers and the SB1 motional-feedback subwoofer provide alternative bass-extension routes; confirm the compatible configuration and quantity.

The LS1v2 is the current version of Grimm’s LS1, a complete system that needs only an analogue or digital line source. The DSP, the converters, a clock circuit taken from Grimm’s CC1 master clock and two 180 watt Hypex NCore amplifiers per speaker all live inside one of its two legs.
The cabinet is a small sealed box of 14 litres with an 8 inch magnesium woofer and a 1 inch dome tweeter, wider than it is deep and held between two half cylinders that form its stand. Each speaker is calibrated by computer during production, and Grimm specifies controlled bass down to 35 Hz.
Grimm built the LS1 as a monitor for mastering and mixing. The MU1 is its natural source and control partner, and the LS1s subwoofers can extend the bass.
