The Stream 3 is Innuos‘s top-performance music streamer and server, the point at which a digital front end starts to feel properly engineered rather than simply connected. We specify it for dedicated two-channel rooms, serious media rooms and cinema systems where music replay must stand on its own. Its modular output lets the connection suit the partnering DAC rather than the other way round—a reference among streamers.

Design & build

The Stream 3 is built to the standard Innuos applies across its electronics, with careful attention to isolation, power and mechanical integrity. In a typical installation it might sit with a high-quality DAC, a refined stereo amplifier and revealing loudspeakers, or feed the music side of a wider AV system whose front channels have been chosen with equal care.

The Stream 3 runs a 13th-generation Intel quad-core processor with 8GB of industrial-grade DDR5 memory, its operating system on a power-loss-protected SSD with real-time kernel technology for low latency. Storage is by M.2 NVMe, offered pre-fitted or user-installed. Dual 2.5Gb bridged Ethernet ports—one a dedicated Streamer output—and USB-C plus USB 3.2 connectivity complete a fast, flexible foundation.

Technology

Power comes from an integrated ARC6-CX linear supply developed with Dr Sean Jacobs, using a 300VA toroidal transformer, 132,000 µF of Mundorf capacitance, active rectification and CX regulation, with medical-grade AC filtering. Output modules can be matched to the system: an SPDIF board, a Performance DAC, a Phoenix DAC with balanced outputs, a PhoenixI2S board over HDMI, or the optional PhoenixUSB reclocker with its OCXO clock.
