Sonos for an existing hi-fi system
The Sonos Port is the right answer when you already own a Naim integrated, a McIntosh preamp, a Rega amplifier or any other serious amplifier — and you want to add Sonos multi-room without replacing it. The Port feeds your amp via line-out (analog RCA) or coaxial digital. Your existing amplifier keeps doing its job. Sonos just becomes another source.
What it does
The Port acts as a Sonos zone over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It outputs to your amp via stereo RCA or coax digital. The 12V trigger output controls compatible amplifiers to power on when audio starts. The analog input lets you feed an external source (a turntable through a phono stage, a CD player) back into Sonos to share across the house.
Where it fits
The Port is the right pick when you want Sonos to play nicely with an existing serious hi-fi amp. Common installs: pairing it with a Naim Uniti Star line-in, a McIntosh integrated, a Rega Brio, or any other amp that’s the heart of a listening room. We covered the wider Sonos comparison in our Bluesound vs Sonos custom installer view.
