Overview
The CS-1 is a compact full-range loudspeaker from Lyngdorf Audio, designed for a specific job: to be hidden inside cabinets, sideboards, lowboards and TV furniture while still delivering proper sound. This listing is the matte-black finish. It is a discreet solution for rooms where a conventional speaker cannot be seen.
Design & build
The CS-1 is built from solid MDF with a durable, easy-to-clean matte-black lacquer, in a horizontal rather than upright format so it fits neatly on a shelf or inside furniture. It measures 42cm wide, 20cm high and 29.5cm deep, and is supplied without a front grille so nothing obstructs the sound when it plays from behind fabric cabinet doors.
Sound & performance
Quoted frequency range is 42Hz–22kHz, with a crossover at 2.2kHz, 4-ohm impedance and 88dB sensitivity, and the speaker is designed for amplifiers of around 100W. Despite its compact, concealed brief, it is engineered to deliver a genuinely full-range sound rather than a background-audio compromise.
Key features
The CS-1 uses a 6.5-inch aluminium-cone midrange/bass driver with a 35mm voice coil and a 1-inch textile soft-dome tweeter. The tweeter is mounted raised and angled, and the cabinet is front-ported, both of which help the speaker perform well when tucked inside furniture and firing through cabinet doors or cloth.
Technology
The horizontal, grille-less, front-ported design is purpose-built for concealed installation: front porting means the speaker is not reliant on rear clearance, while the elevated, angled tweeter aims the high frequencies out towards the listener from a low, hidden position. It partners naturally with Lyngdorf’s RoomPerfect-equipped amplifiers, which can correct for the effects of enclosed placement.
