Overview
The Cue-100 is Lyngdorf’s statement passive loudspeaker — a genuinely unconventional design that won the iF Design Award in 2024 and, more importantly, backs its looks with serious engineering. This version pairs the white cabinet with a white base: the cleanest, most architectural of the range, made to disappear into a bright modern interior while sounding anything but discreet.
Design & build
Three tapered, gently rounded sides are machined from 35mm CNC-cut MDF and braced internally, forming a triangular enclosure with no parallel internal surfaces to feed standing waves. The all-white presentation suits pale floors, plaster and gallery-like spaces. Each speaker measures 350 × 513 × 329mm and weighs around 13.8kg, and the range is developed and manufactured in Denmark.
Sound & performance
Frequency response runs from 35Hz to 22,000Hz (-3dB) — genuinely deep bass from a compact form — with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and sensitivity of 83dB (2.83V/1m). Those figures describe a speaker that rewards quality amplification; Lyngdorf recommends 100 watts or more, and the effort is repaid with scale and composure well beyond the cabinet’s size.
Key features
An Air Motion Transformer tweeter with a Kapton diaphragm and neodymium magnet handles the treble with vanishingly low distortion. A Purifi USHINDI 6.5-inch aluminium-cone driver covers the midrange and bass, and twin 6.5-inch aluminium passive radiators extend the low end without the noise a port can introduce.
Technology
The Purifi mid-woofer is one of the most highly regarded low-distortion drivers in modern loudspeaker engineering, and the passive-radiator loading tunes the bass cleanly. The triangular, heavily braced cabinet is not styling for its own sake — it is the acoustic concept.
Personalisation
The Cue-100 range offers white or black cabinets, white, black or oak bases and five optional Gabriel® fabric sleeves — 24 combinations in all. The white-on-white version here is the purist’s choice; the fabric sleeves, listed separately, let you re-dress it by season or room.
Who it’s for
The listener who wants high-end sound presented as a design object — a living space where a conventional black box would jar, partnered with amplification worthy of it. It is equally at home flanking a media wall or standing free in a listening room.
