Overview

This configuration of the Lyngdorf MP-60 2.1 adds the optional AES3 DCI input module to the flagship 16-channel surround processor. It is the version to specify when a digital cinema server — the same DCI-compliant equipment used in commercial theatres — is part of the plan, connected digitally without ever leaving the professional domain. The 4U rack-mounting kit is included.

The AES3 DCI input option

The fitted module provides a 16-channel DCI-compliant AES3 (AES/EBU) digital input on a DB-25 connector, accepting signals up to 32-bit/192kHz. In practice that means a private cinema running a DCI movie server can feed the MP-60 losslessly in the format cinema servers natively speak — a connection ordinary AV processors simply do not offer.

Sound & performance

Native 16-channel decoding covers Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X® Pro and AURO-3D®, with Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X and AURO-MATIC® upmixing for everything else. Sixteen balanced XLR outputs feed the amplification, and the numbers are exemplary: ±0.5dB frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz and no more than 0.005% distortion.

Key features

The HDMI 2.1 video section carries five inputs (one eARC) and two outputs with Dynamic Lip-Sync and Quick Media Switching. Alongside the DCI board sit an AES/EBU input, three coaxial and four optical S/PDIF inputs and USB audio, plus the XLR microphone input for RoomPerfect™ calibration. Channel mapping is configured through the built-in web interface.

Technology

RoomPerfect remains the MP-60’s defining advantage: it measures the loudspeakers in your actual room and corrects the system across the whole listening area, preserving the character of the speakers while removing the room’s. In a reference cinema fed by a DCI server, that correction is what turns impressive equipment into an accurate one.
