Overview

This version of the Lyngdorf MP-60 2.1 carries the optional AES3 digital output module, letting the flagship processor feed downstream equipment digitally rather than through its analogue outputs. It suits engineered systems built around digital amplification, external digital crossovers or third-party processing — signal integrity preserved from decode to driver. The 4U rack mount is included.

The AES3 output option

The fitted board provides a 16-channel AES3 (AES/EBU) digital output on a DB-25 connector, running at 24-bit with a selectable 48kHz or 96kHz sample rate. Every one of the processor’s 16 channels — RoomPerfect correction, bass management and channel mapping applied — is available as a clean digital feed for the equipment that follows.

Sound & performance

Decoding is native 16-channel Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X® Pro and AURO-3D®, with AURO-MATIC®, Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X upmixing. The 16 balanced XLR analogue outputs remain on board, so hybrid digital-and-analogue system designs are perfectly possible. Measured performance is reference-grade: ±0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz, 0.005% maximum THD.

Key features

Five HDMI 2.1 inputs (one eARC) and two outputs handle video with eARC, Dynamic Lip-Sync and Quick Media Switching. Digital sources connect over AES/EBU, three coaxial and four optical inputs plus USB audio; an XLR microphone input serves RoomPerfect™. Setup and channel routing are managed through the processor’s web interface.

Technology

Keeping the chain digital matters most in systems where the conversion happens as late as possible — at a digital power amplifier or an active loudspeaker’s own electronics. With RoomPerfect applied inside the MP-60 and the signal handed on at 24-bit, this configuration removes an entire generation of conversion from the playback path.
