Description
Overview
The AltitudeCI is Trinnov’s processor for custom installation, built on a new hardware platform with audio over network at its core. It scales from 8 to 32 output channels in two-channel steps, so a project is specified with exactly the capacity it needs. It decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced, and runs the same Optimizer, WaveForming and Remapping software as the rest of the range. Trinnov writes it closed up as AltitudeCI; you will also see Altitude CI. To be clear about where it sits: this is not a flagship above the Altitude16 and Altitude32. Trinnov positions those two as the reference for analogue-first systems and the AltitudeCI alongside them as the networked, rack-focused choice. Different jobs, not better and worse.
Design & build
A compact 2RU chassis of 438 x 88 x 371 mm without ears and feet, weighing 8.6 kg, with a five-inch smoked-glass touchscreen set into brushed aluminium. Ears and feet are removable, so it sits equally well in a technical rack or on a shelf. Cooling is by temperature-controlled exhaust fans, and consumption peaks at 140W, dropping to 0.5W at idle.
Sound & performance
Processing is software-based 64-bit floating point at sample rates up to 192kHz, channel count depending. The eight balanced analogue outputs reach +18 dBu with a dynamic range of 115 dB A-weighted, and any output channel can be assigned to any physical output — analogue, digital or network. Decoding covers Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced, with Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X and Auro-Matic upmixing for stereo and legacy surround material.
Key features
- Channel count configurable from 8 to 32 outputs in two-channel increments, with a 64-channel build-to-order version offered from 2026.
- Native Dante and AES67 — ways of sending many channels of audio down one ordinary network cable — with up to 32 network inputs and 32 network outputs.
- Three Gigabit Ethernet ports (one RJ45, two SFP cages) that can run as an integrated switch, isolated, or as redundant paths.
- Four HDMI 2.1 inputs and two outputs, HDCP 2.3, 40Gbps, up to 8K60 or 4K120 with full 4:4:4 colour, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG, plus the gaming features VRR, FRL and ALLM.
- Up to 32 AES/EBU inputs and outputs on two DB25s, S/PDIF in on coaxial and optical, and eight balanced analogue outputs.
- Control by RS-232, IP and infrared, with a five-inch touchscreen, macOS, Windows and web interfaces, iOS and Android apps, and programmable triggers.
Technology
The Optimizer measures each loudspeaker with Trinnov’s 3D microphone — which connects here on a single Ethercon socket that also powers it — locating every speaker in three dimensions and, where the room forced compromises in placement, remapping the soundfield so the mix arrives from where the format intended. WaveForming, Trinnov’s active bass technology, drives an array of subwoofers individually to launch one controlled wavefront. Calibration is a guided, step-by-step workflow.
The AltitudeCI earns its keep in projects with amplifiers that accept digital inputs. Paired with an Amplitude16 fitted with the optional Dante board, DirectLink simplifies the network setup considerably. It is also the platform to choose where cable runs are long, the rack is remote from the room, or a redundant network path matters.
Specifications
Outputs 8 to 32 in two-channel steps. Analogue 8 x balanced via one DB25, +18 dBu, 115 dB A-weighted. AES/EBU and Dante each up to 32 in and 32 out. HDMI 4 in, 2 out, HDMI 2.1, 40Gbps, 8K60 or 4K120. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced. 64-bit floating point to 192kHz. 2RU, 438 x 88 x 371 mm, 8.6 kg, 140W maximum.
Who it’s for
This is the processor for a networked, integration-led project: a media room or cinema where the equipment rack lives elsewhere in the house, where the channel count needs to be exact, or where the amplifiers can take audio over the network. It also suits a smaller immersive room, because the entry configuration starts at eight outputs. If your amplifiers are analogue-only and you want maximum freedom in choosing them, the Altitude16 or Altitude32 will serve you better.
Why buy from Hidden Home Technology
The AltitudeCI is licensed by channel count, so the price shown, £8,818.00 including VAT, is for the eight-output configuration. Larger channel counts are quoted individually and we will confirm the figure in writing before anything is ordered. Networked audio rewards a properly designed network, which is part of what we do rather than an afterthought. Hidden Home Technology designs, supplies, installs and calibrates Trinnov systems from our base in Bath, working across the South. Dan Crick has twenty-five years in the industry, the company has traded since 2004, and we are a CEDIA member, number A-356536.
