Overview

This is Lyngdorf’s flagship TDAI-3400 integrated amplifier specified with the HDMI 2.1 module. It brings the amplifier’s fully digital signal path, streaming and RoomPerfect room correction together with modern HDMI connectivity, so it can serve as both a reference music system and the audio hub of a current-generation 8K and HDR television or projector setup.

Design & build

The TDAI-3400 is a modular platform, and the HDMI 2.1 module is one of its optional input boards. It can be ordered with a new amplifier or fitted to an existing TDAI-3400, so a music-first system can gain full video connectivity later. The core amplifier remains fully digital throughout, with the module adding HDMI switching and return-channel support.

Sound & performance

The amplifier delivers 2 × 200W RMS into 8 ohms and 2 × 400W RMS into 4 ohms, with a maximum output current of 40A. Frequency response is ±0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz and total harmonic distortion a maximum of 0.05%. With RoomPerfect correcting the room and 100% digital amplification, it brings genuine two-channel quality to film soundtracks as well as music.

Key features

The HDMI 2.1 module provides two HDMI inputs and one HDMI input/output with eARC/ARC, supporting audio up to 192kHz/24-bit. It passes video up to 8K at 50/60Hz and 4K at 100/120Hz, with 18Gbps throughput and all HDR formats, plus CEC control. RoomPerfect’s Focus and Global modes tailor the sound to the room, as on the standard TDAI-3400.

Technology

The module supports HDMI 2.1b and HDCP 2.3, and its eARC/ARC channel lets a modern television send lossless audio back to the amplifier over a single cable. Combined with the TDAI-3400’s fully digital architecture — which avoids repeated digital-to-analogue conversion — and RoomPerfect, it delivers corrected, high-resolution sound from both streamed music and connected video sources.
