Overview
The Lumina V is the flagship three-way floorstanding model in Sonus Faber‘s Lumina collection, distilling the brand’s core designs and technologies into a slender, minimalist cabinet. It is aimed at the listener who wants a genuine floorstanding Sonus Faber — scale, refinement and the company’s characteristic natural voicing — at a more attainable point in the range.
Design & build
The cabinet uses multilayer wood on the front baffle with real wood veneer on the sides and top, available in several finishes, and the sides and top are hand-covered in black leather. It is a slender floorstander designed to sit elegantly in a living room, following the history and values of the Sonus Faber house style rather than chasing bulk.
Sound & performance
As a three-way vented design the Lumina V gives each part of the frequency range a dedicated driver, producing a natural, generous and emotionally engaging sound with fast transient response. Quoted frequency response is 38Hz–24kHz, with a sensitivity of 89dB (2.83V/1m) and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, delivering real scale and low-end weight from a slim cabinet.
Key features
The driver complement is a 29mm DAD high-definition tweeter, a 150mm paper-cone midrange and two 165mm sandwich-diaphragm woofers. The crossover divides at 260Hz and 2,600Hz. Sonus Faber recommends amplifiers of 50–300W on an undistorted signal, giving flexibility with a wide range of quality amplification.
Technology
The DAD (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter damps the centre of the soft dome to improve phase behaviour and smooth the high frequencies. The woofers use a sandwich-diaphragm structure — two paper/natural-fibre layers around a syntactic-foam core — for stiffness without excess mass, and the crossover uses Sonus Faber’s Hybrid IFF-Paracross network.
