This FR-2 pairs a black cabinet with mocca front and top baffles — the richest contrast in the range, warm accents over a dark frame, on Lyngdorf’s space-saving full-range design. Designed to stand flat against the wall, its shallow cabinet takes up almost no room while producing genuinely full-range sound — the practical answer for high-quality music and cinema in real living spaces.

Design & build

The mocca-on-black combination brings texture and warmth to the speaker’s silhouette — smart against dark joinery, striking against pale walls. Interchangeable front and top baffles let the speaker’s accent colour be changed later — replacement baffle sets and Gabriel® fabric covers are listed separately, as is a dedicated wall-mount kit for taking it off the floor entirely.

Sound & performance

The FR-2 plays from 45Hz to 20,000Hz (-3dB) with high 92dB sensitivity (2.83V/1m) into a nominal 4-ohm load (3.7 ohms minimum), and will reach 117dB peak sound pressure — easy to drive, hard to fluster. Power handling is rated at 250 watts (IEC).

A 28mm fabric soft-dome tweeter crosses over at 2.2kHz to two 180mm (6.5-inch) mid-woofers with aluminium cones, 35mm voice coils, vented magnets and vented die-cast aluminium baskets — driver engineering shared with Lyngdorf’s wider loudspeaker range.

The Hidden Home view: Lyngdorf FR-2 reviews in brief

The FR-2 is Lyngdorf’s answer to a room where nothing may stand out from the wall. Its cabinet is just 16 cm deep, it is voiced for the wall behind it and it stands on its feet with the bass port hidden underneath. A wall-mount kit is listed separately. This one pairs a black cabinet with mocca baffles, the strongest contrast of the range and smart against dark joinery.

Jamie Biesemans of FWD set up a pair in a living room in May 2025, driven by Lyngdorf’s TDAI-3400. After RoomPerfect had measured the room he heard so much more clarity and scale that he kept it switched on. The sound was warm and enveloping and forgiving of everyday recordings, and films had far more bass than a speaker of this size usually gives.

Richard Stevenson of Essential Install used the TDAI-2210 in January 2026 and found it “bonkers-punchy in the LF without blooming”, with detail and staging up with some of the best floorstanders at the price. It stayed open with RoomPerfect switched off. Once the pair had gone his 20 square metre room felt more cluttered with floorstanders back in it.

Biesemans heard a slightly laid-back character with no great sense of depth, and he would still add a subwoofer for the deepest film bass. Stevenson found the low terminals tight with thick cables or banana plugs.
