Description

The Lyngdorf MP-40 2.1 handles surround decoding, source switching and RoomPerfect room correction at the centre of a home cinema system. It is a processor, not an AV receiver with built-in speaker amplification: pair it with suitable power amplifiers or compatible active loudspeakers.

Plan the speaker layout before choosing the processor

The MP-40 2.1 provides 12 native decoding channels and 16 balanced XLR outputs. Those 16 sockets do not make it a 16-channel decoder. A 7.1.4 layout uses 12 channels; additional subwoofers and output routing need to be planned within the processor’s supported configuration.

HDMI, television audio and source connections

3 HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs support HDMI 2.1 video switching. The platform supports 8K video, 4K high-frame-rate video and eARC for audio returned from a compatible television. Actual operation depends on the source, display, signal format and cables. Digital audio inputs also include AES/EBU, coaxial, optical and USB audio.

RoomPerfect as part of the cinema design

RoomPerfect measures the installed speaker system in the room and applies correction. Speaker positioning, subwoofer integration, amplification and acoustic treatment remain part of the design. MP-40 2.1 or MP-60 2.1?

Choose the MP-40 2.1 when its 12-channel decoding and three HDMI inputs meet the design. The MP-60 2.1 offers more decoding channels, five HDMI inputs and optional professional digital interfaces. The larger model is about the configuration you need, not a requirement for every dedicated cinema.
