Overview

This configuration of the Lyngdorf MP-60 2.1 includes the optional AES67 module, bringing professional audio-over-IP networking to the flagship 16-channel surround processor. Where traditional systems run a cable per channel, AES67 carries all sixteen digitally over the network — the approach professional audio has already standardised on. Supplied with the 4U rack-mounting kit.

The AES67 option

The fitted board provides a 16-channel AES67-compliant digital input and output on an RJ45 network connector, accepting up to 32-bit/192kHz on the input side with output at 24-bit/48kHz. It allows the MP-60 to integrate with digital cinema servers and other AES67 equipment over standard network infrastructure — one tidy connection where a loom of cables used to be.

Sound & performance

The processor decodes Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X® Pro and AURO-3D® natively across 16 channels, upmixes legacy material with Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X and AURO-MATIC®, and delivers analogue audio through 16 balanced XLR outputs. Performance is measurably reference class: ±0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz and no more than 0.005% total harmonic distortion.

Key features

The HDMI 2.1 platform offers five inputs (one eARC) and two outputs with eARC, Dynamic Lip-Sync and Quick Media Switching. Conventional digital inputs — AES/EBU, three coaxial, four optical and USB audio — sit alongside the network board, and the XLR microphone input serves RoomPerfect™ calibration. Channel mapping is configured through the built-in web interface.

Technology

AES67 is the interoperability standard for audio-over-IP, which is precisely its appeal: it is not a proprietary ecosystem. Combined with RoomPerfect — Lyngdorf’s room correction, measured from multiple positions so the whole seating area benefits — this MP-60 behaves like a piece of professional infrastructure that happens to sound beautiful.
