Description
Description
Overview
The Concertino is the two-way bookshelf speaker of the Sonus Faber Heritage collection, now in its fourth generation (Concertino G4). The first Concertino appeared in 1994. In the Heritage range it now sits where the Minima Amator II used to.
Design & build
It keeps the historic trapezoidal shape that is emblematic of Sonus faber’s designs, in solid walnut with black leather and brass details. Sonus faber has worked natural materials into it, including cork and a plant-based leather. The matching Iron Stand, in iron and walnut veneer, is made for it and sold separately.
Key features
A 1.1-inch DAD Arrow Point tweeter works with a 5.25-inch ferrite-magnet mid-woofer in a vented cork enclosure, crossing over at 1,700 Hz.

Who it’s for
The Concertino is for a smaller room and for the listener who wants Sonus faber at its most traditional in look and materials. We think of Sonus faber as a beautiful, easy-to-live-with all-rounder, built to a high standard with great heritage behind it, and the Heritage collection is where that history shows most.
What we would pair it with
Sonus faber recommends 30 to 150 watts. We would look first at the McIntosh MA252, or a Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 where the room needs correcting.
Room and setup notes
A compact two-way like this is at its best on a rigid stand, away from the corners. We set the height and the toe-in in the room the speakers will live in.
Also worth considering
For more scale in the same spirit, the Heritage collection also includes the Electa Amator III and the Maxima Amator. See the full range on our Sonus Faber page.

The wider view: Sonus faber Concertino G4 reviews in brief
The Concertino G4 is the two-way bookshelf speaker of Sonus faber’s Heritage collection, launched thirty years after the first Concertino of 1994. It keeps the trapezoidal shape of the original in solid walnut with black leather and brass, and its vented enclosure is now built of cork. In the Heritage range it takes the place the Minima Amator II held.
TechRadar gave it five stars in July 2025. James Grimshaw lived with a pair for four weeks. He heard rich and well-structured bass with an airy top end and a rare three-dimensional quality, and he called it “a triumph of design, both aesthetically and sonically”. In April 2025 Trevor Butler of The Ear and his listening panel found it warm, natural and honest, with fine timing and dynamics and more of a studio monitor about it than he expected. José Victor Henriques compared it with his own original Concertino for the Portuguese site HifiClube in July 2025 and found the new speaker clearer and more precise, with a better defined bass.
It is worth knowing that all three found it particular about set-up. TechRadar heard the balance change markedly away from a head-on seat, and The Ear found the dedicated stands a little tall for its chairs. HifiClube heard little below 60 Hz and some hardness when it was pushed hard, where a subwoofer helps.
So it suits a study or a medium-sized living room and a listener who sits centrally and values tone and texture over sheer volume. It is available to order through us, and we can advise on stands and placement for your room.
What the reviewers say, in a nutshell
- TechRadar, James Grimshaw, July 2025. Five stars. Rich, airy and three-dimensional with superb craftsmanship, at its best heard head-on.
- The Ear, Trevor Butler, April 2025. Warm, natural and honest, with fine timing and dynamics and the candour of a studio monitor.
- HifiClube, José Victor Henriques, July 2025. Clearer and more precise than the original Concertino, with real warmth, though light below 60 Hz.
