The 705 S3 Signature is the top expression of Bowers & Wilkins‘ 705 S3 stand-mount, a two-way vented design that carries technology developed for the flagship 800 Series Diamond. It is the speaker to consider for a music room, a refined living space or a higher-quality media room where the left and right channels are doing serious work and a full floorstander would overwhelm the room.
The Carbon Dome tweeter sits in a solid-body “tweeter-on-top” enclosure evolved from the latest 800 Series Diamond, decoupled from the main cabinet to reduce resonance. A subtly curved baffle carries a dedicated pod housing for the Continuum-cone bass/midrange driver. The Signature edition adds exclusive finishes — Datuk Gloss and Midnight Blue Metallic — and revised crossover components.
As a two-way stand-mount the 705 S3 Signature delivers a precise, well-integrated presentation from a compact cabinet. Quoted frequency response is 50Hz–28kHz (±3dB), with a sensitivity of 88dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms (minimum 3.7 ohms). On the right stands and with sensible amplification it can form the heart of a very capable two-channel system.
The drive units are a 25mm (1-inch) decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter and a 165mm (6.5-inch) Continuum-cone bass/midrange with Flowport venting. The crossover uses upgraded components, including Mundorf capacitors on the Signature version. Bowers & Wilkins recommend amplifiers of 30–120W into 8 ohms. Stands are not included.
The Carbon Dome construction raises the tweeter’s break-up threshold to 47kHz for clean, detailed high frequencies, while decoupling the tweeter housing isolates it from cabinet vibration. The Continuum cone avoids the abrupt break-up behaviour of conventional cones, giving a more natural, open midrange — both principles drawn from the 800 Series.
