Overview

The Parker Duo is the stand-mount model in Marten’s Parker series — a compact two-way loudspeaker from the Swedish high-end maker known for ceramic drivers and careful, low-resonance cabinet work. It is designed to deliver the clarity and coherence of a small monitor with a reach into the bass that belies its dimensions, aided by a passive radiator.

Design & build

The cabinet is built from 35 mm multi-layer M-board for rigidity and low colouration, and finished in Piano Walnut, Matte Walnut or Piano Black. It measures 22–28 × 42 × 36 cm and weighs 18 kg — substantial for its size, reflecting the density of its construction. Internal wiring is by Jorma, terminated in single-wiring WBT Nextgen posts.

Sound & performance

The Parker Duo is quoted with a frequency range of 36–40,000Hz (±2dB), a sensitivity of 88dB (2.83V) and a nominal 6-ohm impedance dropping to a minimum of 3.1 ohms — a benign load for most quality amplifiers. The ceramic drivers give it the transient speed, low distortion and tonal purity that characterise the Marten sound.

Key features

The driver complement comprises a 1-inch pure-ceramic tweeter, a 7.5-inch ceramic bass/midrange and a 9-inch aluminium passive radiator, which extends the low end without a conventional port. Marten’s multi-diverse-order crossover, centred at 2,200Hz, blends filter slopes chosen by listening and measurement. The tweeter can be upgraded to a diamond unit in the Diamond edition.

Technology

Ceramic diaphragms are exceptionally stiff, pushing resonances out of band for a clean, uncoloured sound; the tweeter reaches to 40kHz. The passive radiator loads the bass without port noise, while the dense M-board cabinet and Jorma internal wiring reflect Marten’s attention to every element of the signal path.
