Overview

The Parker Duo is the stand-mount model in Marten’s Parker series — a compact two-way loudspeaker from the Swedish high-end maker known for ceramic drivers and careful, low-resonance cabinet work. It is designed to deliver the clarity and coherence of a small monitor with a reach into the bass that belies its dimensions, aided by a passive radiator.

Design & build

The cabinet is built from 35 mm multi-layer M-board for rigidity and low colouration, and finished in Piano Walnut, Matte Walnut or Piano Black. It measures 22–28 × 42 × 36 cm and weighs 18 kg — substantial for its size, reflecting the density of its construction. Internal wiring is by Jorma, terminated in single-wiring WBT Nextgen posts.

Sound & performance

The Parker Duo is quoted with a frequency range of 36–40,000Hz (±2dB), a sensitivity of 88dB (2.83V) and a nominal 6-ohm impedance dropping to a minimum of 3.1 ohms — a benign load for most quality amplifiers. The ceramic drivers give it the transient speed, low distortion and tonal purity that characterise the Marten sound.

Key features

The driver complement comprises a 1-inch pure-ceramic tweeter, a 7.5-inch ceramic bass/midrange and a 9-inch aluminium passive radiator, which extends the low end without a conventional port. Marten’s multi-diverse-order crossover, centred at 2,200Hz, blends filter slopes chosen by listening and measurement. The tweeter can be upgraded to a diamond unit in the Diamond edition.

Technology

Ceramic diaphragms are exceptionally stiff, pushing resonances out of band for a clean, uncoloured sound; the tweeter reaches to 40kHz. The passive radiator loads the bass without port noise, while the dense M-board cabinet and Jorma internal wiring reflect Marten’s attention to every element of the signal path.

The Hidden Home view: Marten Parker Duo

I lived with a pair of these for a couple of months and listened to them pretty much every night. The pair I had was the Diamond Edition, which is this speaker with a diamond tweeter and a better crossover. For scale, detail and control it is like nothing else I have heard from a two-way speaker on a stand. It has one small weakness. At whisper-quiet volume the bass loses some of its bloom, and I noticed because I listen a lot when the children are asleep.

What Hi-Fi? gave the Diamond Edition five stars in September 2026. It called it “a true endgame speaker” and said the bass goes “way beyond that we would expect for this size of standmounter”. HiFi Huff reviewed the standard Duo in July 2025 and wrote “I never heard a small stand mount sound like these”. Pursuit Perfect System gave the standard Duo its highest award in 2021.

It is worth knowing that all three found the amplifier matters a great deal and that What Hi-Fi? counts Marten’s own stands as essential, which adds to the cost.

So it suits a small or medium room where a floorstander would dominate. In my room it did not mind being close to the wall, though What Hi-Fi? got its best results with about 90 cm behind it.
