Trinnov

Trinnov Audio is a French company that came to home cinema from the most demanding end of professional audio. Its Optimizer loudspeaker and room optimisation technology was introduced to the professional world in 2006 and is now used in nearly two thousand studios across the globe, with close to ten thousand high-performance installations worldwide — many of them the very rooms where the film soundtracks you watch at home were mixed and mastered. That same technology, refined over two decades, sits at the heart of every Trinnov home cinema processor. The Altitude platform is unusual in being genuinely software-defined: rather than fixed DSP chips, every Altitude runs 64-bit floating-point processing on an Intel multi-core platform, which is why Trinnov has repeatedly delivered major new capabilities to processors already installed in customers’ homes. The Altitude16 provides sixteen balanced outputs and renders up to twenty discrete channels; AVForums awarded it a maximum ten out of ten and, unusually, returned in 2021 to update its review because free software updates had materially improved the processor — reconfirming its reference status. Above it, the modular Altitude32 scales to thirty-six channels, while the rack-focused AltitudeCI brings native Dante and AES67 audio-over-IP to larger integrated projects. Matching Amplitude amplifiers complete the electronics. What genuinely separates Trinnov is what happens at calibration. The Optimizer measures each loudspeaker with Trinnov’s dedicated 3D microphone, which locates every speaker in space — distance, angle and height — and can then remap the soundfield so the mix arrives from where the format intended, even when the room forced compromises in speaker placement. WaveForming, Trinnov’s active-acoustics bass technology, goes further still, driving an array of subwoofers individually to launch a single controlled wavefront through the room. These are tools that reward expert hands, and they are exclusive to the Altitude platform.Getting the most from an Altitude is a design and calibration discipline as much as a purchase. At Hidden Home Technology we design, install and calibrate Trinnov-based cinema rooms as complete projects — see our home cinema design and installation service, and our approach to industry standards. We also design rooms around StormAudio, McIntosh and Steinway Lyngdorf processors — the right platform depends on the room and the brief.Hidden Home Technology designs, supplies, installs and calibrates Trinnov systems across the United Kingdom from our base in Bath, Somerset. Where can I buy Trinnov in the UK? Trinnov Altitude processors are specified and installed by Hidden Home Technology as part of a complete cinema design, with calibration carried out by our own team. We undertake projects across the South West, Wales, London and the Home Counties. Get in touch to discuss your cinema room.
