TAD

Technical Audio Devices, known simply as TAD, began in 1975 as a project within Pioneer, charged with building loudspeakers good enough for the professional world: the recording studios and mastering rooms where a monitor is judged not on charm but on whether it tells the truth. That studio inheritance still defines the brand. In 2007 TAD became a company in its own right, and today it engineers some of the most exactingly built loudspeakers and electronics made anywhere.

At the heart of almost every TAD loudspeaker sits the CST driver, a Coherent Source Transducer that mounts a beryllium tweeter dome concentrically within the midrange cone so that the two behave as a single point source. The result is a sound that arrives coherent in time and even in its dispersion, whether you are seated dead centre or off to one side. The beryllium diaphragms are formed in-house by a vapour-deposition process TAD has refined over decades, beryllium being the rare metal that is at once extraordinarily light, extraordinarily stiff and naturally well damped.

The range runs from the Micro Evolution One, a standmount of unusual capability, through the Compact Evolution One and the floorstanding Evolution and Grand Evolution models, to the Reference One, a statement loudspeaker built without compromise.
